Common statements made in some of the blog authors' exit posts are that they've become uninspired (a good reason to quit), that writing has taken them away from more important face-to-face relationships (I need this reminder) or that they have new ideas up their sleeve and we better stay tuned (Oh good, my virtual buddies aren't gone forever!)
What's my excuse for keeping this site active but not posting in over a year? Two kids, job, family and other important things take precedence. Right now I say what I want to say in a status update or shared photo, because it's quick & easy and I feel it reaches my intended audience. However, keeping this blog allows me to look back in time, so I can't bear to shut it down. :)
Is it a sign of the times? Do we no longer have time to write (and read) an entire blog post? Instead, maybe we get our fix from a quick scroll and scan. 100 characters or less. Yes, I think that's part of it. Also, technology is constantly changing, so who knows what the next best thing is going to be?
Will I continue to blog? Maybe! When the urge strikes me. That's what creative people do. We jump around, sometimes leaving tasks unfinished to invent a masterpiece while inspired. Now...on to my next project! Until next time, thanks for reading. :)
